Theaters Under Siege (1989-99)
Description: Inspired by the remnants of grandeur and commissioned to document work being done to stabilize and rescue the nine theaters on 42nd Street, I was able to photograph interior spaces and vintage architectural details not accessible to the public as well as facades and streetscapes.

Benaras (1974, 1984)
Description: Living in Benaras at Assi Ghat on the banks on the holy Ganges River in 1974 and again in 1984 afforded a visual feast, spectacular photograhic fodder, and daily interaction with the practices of devout Hindus and ablutions particular to this culture.

Description: Commissioned by the United Nations Development Program in 1978 to document conditions at the time of Independence from Great Britain and ten years later to follow up this development visually.

Description: My great aunt, Belle Hopp, the oldest retired 'spinster' school teacher in New York City, lived to be 108 1/2. During the last two years of her life I was able to interview and photograph her in the upper west side apartment she inhabited since her retirement in 1941.

Portraits of Pregnant Women (1986-99)
Description: More than one hundred portraits of nude pregnant women, mostly black and white images made in the studio and on location. One series of nine images show one women monthly throughout her pregnancy.
